“Ghost” is a disc cloning program. The Ghost program was launched into the market for disc cloning software. The name Ghost is actually an acronym standing for “General Hardware Oriented Software Transfer The Norton Ghost is the consumer version of the product, first released in 1999. Today, all versions of this software that are made by Norton are consumer and they’re all called “Save and Restore.” The Ghost name is reserved for the business unit product which is made by Symantec.
Norton Ghost information is available through a free download from either the Norton website, the Symantec website, or a third party. If you’re doing a search on Norton make sure to use the proper name, Save and Restore, and it should take you to the consumer version of the Ghost hardware. If you’re using it for business purposes, rather than searching for Norton Ghost, maybe you’d be wise to look for Symantec Ghost. Norton Ghost downloads are no doubt available in the Norton site or if you do a search over towards Symantec. Norton Ghost version 10 is actually called Norton Save and restore 1.0 but is the equivalent of the Ghost 10.0 with additional features which allows for backup and restore of individual files. Norton Ghost has had so many versions that it’s no doubt available “free” form somewhere on the internet. The whole thing from Norton Ghost 1.0 to Norton Ghost 9.0 might be available in a download for free. But you should check it out online and you should only ever do a download from a trusted site rather than dealing with anything suspicious that may introduce spyware or adware to your system. Using Norton Ghost is another piece of literature you can no doubt find available on the internet. However, again, you may need to look for it under the Norton site as Save and Restore or in the Symantec site as Ghost. For all the Norton Ghost help you need, you should again first determine what version you have and make sure you’ve got all the appropriate current downloads. Then go ahead online and see if you can make some sense of the Norton/Symantec mess! Norton Ghost sounds like a useful program to have around if you’ve got a lot of duplication to do. But you should make sure you’ve got all appropriate updates and that you’re using the same system that Norton/Symantec are!
