Using the online backup is the use of a service that provides users with an online system for backing up and storing computer files from just about anywhere in the world. While the free online data backup is about as reliable as the bytes that they’re encoded on, there is another option for the consumer at both the corporate and personal level-Managed Backup providers. Managed backup providers are companies that have the software and server space for storing files.
Online file storage and online data storage are both available from the online backup services. This is a technology that has been in use by large corporations for quite some time. Recently however, online backup systems have been released at price points that make them usable by the average consumer and/or small business for things big and small. Online photo storage is available for your daughter’s pictures at the circus and online data storage is available for huge corporate clients trading millions of dollars in a few documents. Both are very important. As stated earlier, online backup is available for business or personal use. In the past, online backup systems were built around client programs that would run a scheduled software program (typically once a day). This program compresses, encrypts, and transfers to the remote backup service provider's servers. There are other technologies that are now available in the market, including continuous data protection (commonly referred to as CDP), which is widely available for consumers and small businesses. It has the advantage of reducing RPO, but substantially increases the bandwidth consumed. The consumer and small to medium enterprise (SME) online backup industry has moved in stages - with early vendors launching systems that were designed to network backup of corporate workstations. These products worked well in a LAN based environment or over the public internet. Current consumer online backup companies include beta software offerings and/or free to paid backup services. For internet storage there has been some debate over whether things like the free photo storage sites are at all viable. I say you should being your search with something you’re not afraid to lose. Or better yet, something you’ve got stored elsewhere. Then check it out; see how your information, data, and concerns are handled as a client. If what you see is appalling, run for the hills; if not, then enjoy the free while it lasts; because if it is good, it won’t stay free long!
