Shareaza is the free, Windows based P2P client which supports many protocols including eDonkey, Gnutella, Gnutella2, BitTorrent, as well as FTP and HTTP network protocols. The same person who developed Shareaza also developed Gnutella2 which was done without any outside conferral with Gnutella’s developers.
Shareaza 2.0 was released as free software followed by Shareaza 2.1 which addressed many of the bugs that went along with the release of XP. Shareaza 2.2.5.0 was released in February 2007 and supports Network Address Translation ports on the router. This newer version of Shareaza remedies almost 200 bugs from the previous release. Shareaza users are frequently bombarded with internet scams so be wary! Etomi is one such scam and suggests that the user pay a “membership fee” in order to use a free software! Never give your credit card to any third party site that suggests you pay for anything you’re not 100% certain you should be paying for. Even after that you should check before you pay anyone; you could be signing over your paypal account verification for unlimited amount of debits, indefinitely! Shareaza is a free download and you should enjoy that for all it’s worth. There are Shareaza hacks that may try and infiltrate your account and make your life miserable. You should always have the correct protections up on your computer to deflect this type of nonsense. Furthermore you should never download anything you’re not certain about; even if it uses all the good names and things you’re familiar with, if you are prompted by an untoward download and you’re not sure why, the best question to ask yourself is “who is this from?” Check the URL and see if it’s recognizable or not. A good tip off is if the URL contains all sorts of nonsense, it may be unsolicited. If you dig on something you shouldn’t there’s not even really any faulting the application of Shareaza. Honestly, you did it; you should suffer the consequences of your actions. Every site will ultimately be intercepted by some form of spyware one day. It’s sheer probability; it’s got to happen. If there’s one crack in the Shareaza program, I haven’t been able to locate it. It appears as though Shareaza just keeps getting better and better. From it’s elimination of all the bugs infecting it’s systems to the rapid improvements it’s made in dealing with XP, even the price went from modest to zero!
